Museo Arturo Ghergo – Teatro La Rondinella

Situato al piano terra dell’ex Palazzo dei Priori, sotto lo splendido loggiato, il Museo celebra il talento del fotografo Arturo Ghergo, nato a Montefano il 20 agosto 1901, celebre per i suoi ritratti di dive e personaggi dell’alta società romana. Oltre a molte delle sue opere fotografiche, il museo diviso in due sale, la “Sala Ghergo” e la Sala Consiliare, ospita anche i suoi strumenti di lavoro. Una terza sala è dedicata a mostre temporanee e laboratori, diventando un punto culturale dinamico per appassionati e visitatori. Al piano superiore dello stesso palazzo, raggiungibile da un’ampia scalinata, si cela il Teatro La Rondinella, un autentico teatro bomboniera tra le colline del Conero. Nato alla fine del Settecento quasi interamente in legno per soddisfare la passione dei montefanesi per il melodramma, fu completamente riprogettato nel 1887 dall’ingegnere Virgilio Tombolini, all’epoca direttore tecnico del Teatro La Fenice di Venezia.

Located on the ground floor of the former “Palazzo dei Priori”, beneath a splendid loggia, this museum celebrates the talent of photographer Arturo Ghergo, born in Montefano on August 20, 1901, renowned for his portraits of film stars and members of Rome’s high society. In addition to showcasing many of his photographic works, the museum—divided into two rooms, the “Sala Ghergo” and the Council Chamber, also displays his working tools. A third room is dedicated to temporary exhibitions and workshops, making it a vibrant cultural hub for enthusiasts and visitors alike. On the upper floor of the same building, reached by a wide staircase, lies the "La Rondinella" Theater, a true gem nestled in the Conero hills. Built in the late 18th century, almost entirely of wood to satisfy the Montefane people's passion for opera, it was completely redesigned in 1887 by engineer Virgilio Tombolini, then technical director of the Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

Palazzo Carradori Olivi (Sede del Comune)

Costruito nella seconda metà del Settecento, questo palazzo è tra i più antichi e prestigiosi del borgo. Con facciata sobria e nitide linee classiciste, conserva elementi decorativi del piano nobile e venne ampliato nel XIX secolo dalla famiglia Olivi. Il palazzo è simbolo di eleganza architettonica e testimonia il dialogo tra nobiltà, funzione pubblica e vita culturale del paese.

Built in the second half of the 18th century, this palace is among the oldest and most prestigious in the village. With its understated façade and crisp classicist lines, it preserves decorative elements from the noble floor and was expanded in the 19th century by the Olivi family. The palace stands as a symbol of architectural elegance and reflects the dialogue between nobility, civic function, and the cultural life of the town.

Torrione Scarpato Quattrocentesco

Risale al 1453 l'antico torrione scarpato, elemento difensivo dell’antica cinta urbana del borgo. Oggi inglobato nel tessuto abitativo, conserva la sua imponente struttura muraria medievale. I merli, la solida base in conci e la posizione dominante lo rendono testimonianza silenziosa dell’importanza strategica che Montefano ebbe nei passaggi tra Recanati e Osimo.

The ancient tower dates back to 1453 and served as a defensive element of the old urban walls of the village. Today, it is incorporated into the residential fabric yet still preserves its imposing medieval masonry. The battlements, the solid ashlar base, and its commanding position make it a silent witness to the strategic importance Montefano once held along the routes between Recanati and Osimo.
